The Elephant Story raised $36,000 for The Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation.

The Cowboys and Strings concert and auction held on August 2 raised $36,000 to provide educational support for the school in the elephant village, Moo Baan Chang, in Surin, Thailand. The elephant village is home to over 200 elephants, their mahouts and families.

The objective of the educational program is to introduce foreign language instruction, eco tourism concepts, and fiscal responsibility into the school curriculum in order to build a sustainable eco tourism base for the village.

Eight luxury hotels in Southeast Asia donated hotel packages to the auction process. The hotels included The Siam Hotel, The Mandarin Oriental, and The Peninsula Hotel located in Bangkok. The Four Seasons Tented Camp and the Anantara Golden Triangle donated elephant experience packages in the Golden Triangle of Thailand. In addition, The Amansara Resort and the Shinta Mani Club in Siem Reap, Cambodia and the Como Shambhala Estate in Bali, Indonesia provided luxury resort and spa packages.

Mark your calendars for July 3, 2015 for a return of the world renowned musicians, Aaron Meyer and Tim Ellis, to the Texas Hill Country.

About The Elephant Story:

The Elephant Story is a Not-for-Profit retail store formed by Ed and Joey Story to promote elephant conservation in Asian elephant countries, most notably Thailand. The objective is to increase the awareness of the plight of what has become an endangered species given the deforestation in Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Apart from elephant conservation, The Elephant Story seeks to support indigenous groups in Asian elephant countries by creating a market for their goods in our retail store and online.
