During an Elephant Polo match a Mahout (owner and driver of the elephant) is driving the elephant while the polo player is sitting behind them. In order for the Mahout to know where to drive the elephant the polo player must communicate to the Mahout. Since most Mahoutsâ ‚¬ „¢ only speak Thai, they each wear this shirt so the Polo player knows how to say the directions in Thai.
