ViewSuan Lahu's Medium Light Roast features an earthy hazelnut taste combined with the fruity-sweet aroma of blooming Jasmine. Our mildest slow roast, while leaving an impressively pure aftertaste in your mouth, shows its best character when consumed simply black. Lunita also adjusts well with tougher profiles; we recommend for hot and iced coffee beverages, 1 part Medium Light with 4 parts Medium Dark.
(a fair-trade coffee)
Suan Lahu, meaning "Lahu Garden", is a stretch of sloped land, eighty rai (30 acres, 12 hectares) in size, located in the highlands of Chiang Rai province in Northern Thailand. Community members from the two neighboring Lahu villages oversee the farm and coffee production. Their farming approach is to develop and use organic, sustainable and traditional cultivation methods, in order to offer a greener alternative to the heavy chemical use that has dominated agricultural practices in the region in the last decades.
The Lahu People are one of several indigenous tribes, which include Hmong, Lisu, Akha, Mien, Karen and others, inhabiting Northern Thailand. Lahu people also live in Burma, Laos, Vietnam, and in Yunnan Province in China. The Lahu Sheleh are a sub-group with their own cultural practices and dialect.
