ViewSuan Lahu's Medium Dark Roast bears a sweet-bitter aroma of fresh chrysanthemums, which meets the fine acidity you request from your habitual coffee drink. Suan Lahu, meaning "Lahu Garden", is a stretch of sloped land, eighty rai (30 acres, 12 hectares) in size, located in the highlands of Chiang Rai province in Northern Thailand. Community members from the two neighboring Lahu villages oversee the farm and coffee production. Their farming approach is to develop and use organic, sustainable and traditional cultivation methods, in order to offer a greener alternative to the heavy chemical use that has dominated agricultural practices in the region in the last decades.
The Lahu People are one of several indigenous tribes, which include Hmong, Lisu, Akha, Mien, Karen and others, inhabiting Northern Thailand. Lahu people also live in Burma, Laos, Vietnam, and in Yunnan Province in China. The Lahu Sheleh are a sub-group with their own cultural practices and dialect.
