French jeweler Olivia Dar made her presence felt on Indiaâ €š ¬ €ž ¢s fashion scene 2013. Her handcrafted bracelets, featuring rows of skulls or studs on a thin strap, were the antithesis of the bling normally preferred by Indian socialites.Â

After working on embroidery and accessories for French couture houses Christian Lacroix and Yves Saint Laurent, French designer Olivia Dar planted roots in India post a life-changing backpacking trip in the subcontinent. She lived in Dharamshala studying Tibetan culture and then Jaipur for gemmology and before settling in New Delhi to establish her a namesake label, launched in 2011, and directly inspired by Indian culture.
